Robert Trent Jones II delivered a world-class golf course on a narrow, difficult piece of land. He created a target golf course on which every hole offers a view of the sparkling Sea of Cortez. The desert sun produces an intensity of light and shadow the sometimes distorts perception and created a mirage effect.
Home to two Senior Slams, and a host of other prestigious golf tournaments, the 6,988 yard Cabo Real Golf Course designed by Robert Trent Jones II has what is considered the toughest front nine in golf in Los Cabos.
Its three spectacular ocean front holes put Cabo Real on the golf world map in 1996 when whales put on a spectacular show breaching just yards offshore during the Senior Slam golf tournament. Long considered the favorite of many pros, the Cabo Real course is a must during any visit.
The Course winds through scenic cactus lined canyons, hills, and arroyos down to the shoreline where the desert meets the sea. Spectacular oceanfront holes embrace Cabo Real’s 3-1/2 miles of coastline, inspiring the often heard and flattering remark that Cabo Real is the Pebble Beach of Mexico.
A picturesque and diverse course, Cabo Real features rolling fairways with strategically placed bunkers on narrow terrain that work their way up to the 6th tee 460 feet above sea level. The first six holes are in mountainous terrain, with hills and valleys stretching into the surrounding Sierras; others are nestled near the beach. An inspiring view awaits you from each of them.
Stronger players may be caught overshooting the 12th hole, which sits atop a high mesa facing the sea. The most spectacular view of the course is from the 15th tee, directly on the beach, and plays near the surf in front of the hotel Meliá Cabo Real and the Las Ventanas al Paraiso.
